The conference is curated by Marco Rosati, architect and PhD student in “Landscape and Environment” at Sapienza University of Rome, and aims to promote interdisciplinary discussion and shared reflection on the theme of the Franciscan landscape, understood as a historical, identity-defining, and layered landscape, generated by the encounter between material and immaterial, spiritual and natural elements.
Through contributions from scholars from various fields—architecture, landscape, art, philosophy, aesthetics, ecology, natural sciences, theology—the relationships between architecture, natural sites, sacred atmospheres, and pilgrimage routes will be explored, outlining the current state of the art on a topic that is more relevant than ever in contemporary times.
